Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda

A view of Murchison Falls from a launch cruise

Named after the Murchison Falls water fall, Murchison Falls National Park is the largest National Park in Uganda and the ideal park for a Uganda safari.
Managed by Uganda Wildlife Authority, Murchison Falls National Park is located in North Western Uganda about 300km from the capital city Kampala. The Park is famous for its abundant wildlife including Elephants, Buffalo, Giraffe, lions and Hyenas.
Bird lovers planning a tour to Uganda with a stopover at the Park will not be disappointed as there are over 400 species of birds to be seen. The other parks where you can see plenty of birds are Lake Mburo National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park.
A visit to Murchison Falls National Park is never complete without a boat trip or launch cruise as it is famously called on the Nile river that cuts across the Park. You are sure to see plenty of other african wildlife including  hippos, Crocodiles and aquatic birds.
Accommodation at Murchison Falls National Park is there to fit all budgets from luxury lodges like Paraa safari lodge to budget accommodation at RedChilli rest camp to campsites run my Uganda Wildlife Authority.
